Thanksgiving weekend—what could be a better time to buy a car in Vegas and drive it all the way to Pittsburgh! 5 national parks in 3 days. 2500 miles driven. Most of pictures were taken in beautiful Utah.
If you look closer at this picture you'll see a natural bridge... It took me a while to spot it from this angle.
Natural bridge essentially a natural arch spanning water. Bridges were formed when meandering streams cut through the canyon walls.
The early bird catches the worm—if you get up early and head to the Arches National Park you enjoy some amazing colors.
Park Service had to close the trail that once passed under the arch after three large fragments fell down from the span.
The most famous arch of the Arches National Park. In 2002 the Olympic torch relay for the Winter Olympics passed through the 16m tall arch.
No matter how badly I wanted to spend more time in Utah, I had to keep moving.. I will surely be back!
"No other canyon in North America combines the narrow opening, sheer walls, and startling depths offered by the Black Canyon of the Gunnison." True.
It is really on a dark side, very different from those canyons found in Utah or Arizona.
If you bend far enough looking 300 feet down, you can see a heart-shaped island at the bottom of the canyon. Sweet!
Continental Divide separates the watersheds draining into the Pacific Ocean from those that drain into the Atlantic Ocean.
As it turned out... :) Kansas was the most boring part of the entire trip — 440 miles of almost uninterrupted (except for two stops to refuel) driving on I-70. This sign was the highlight of this state.
